Propolis is a mixture of resinous substances collected by bees from the buds and bark of certain trees, in particular Indian chestnuts. Its composition is extremely complex and variable, but it always contains the following elements in relatively stable quantities: resin, wax, essential oils, pollen, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and flavonoids.
